Exam Centre at Oak Heights School

Science

As a part of Oak Heights Independent School’s recent building expansion and refurbishment, we have had the opportunity to modernise and expand our science facilities. Our brand new laboratory allows our students to participate in science projects alongside their academic studies giving them a deeper understanding of the subject. This means they are able to fully engage with the methods used in physics, chemistry and biology and gain hands on experience with relevant, up to date and safe equipment. As well as running practical science courses in our labs for our external/private candidates, we also allow our internal students to take full advantage of our facilities.

Our pupils are currently taking part in “Science week” whereby each year group conducts a different experiment everyday. We hope that science week will encourage pupils to gain a keen interest in the technical side of scientific research as well as giving them first hand experience using standard lab apparatus.

We are proud to have former students that have benefited greatly from our original science facilities achieving A* grades and progressing onto highly accredited sixth forms. We are confident that our newly refurbished labs will only further improve our already excelling students.

Sports

Here at Oak Heights we believe that your body’s health and fitness are key components to a healthy academic mind. Every Tuesday and Friday our qualified coaches teach swimming and athletics. As a result of our most recent athletics session two of our pupils were scouted for the local athletics team trials one of which made the team!!

Trips

This academic year pupils have had the opportunity to attend a variety of school trips. Some of these trips were as a part of their curriculum and others as a general treat for good behaviour. These included trips such as Charlie and the Chocolate factory in theatre, Ice Skating, bowling, laser quest, IMAX theatre , PGL and Hampton Court Palace.

Exams

This week was a very intense week as we came to the end of the examination period for our year 11 students and private candidates. Some of our year 11 students had attended Oak Heights School for almost 5 years so it was very moving to see them reach a milestone in their academic lives. We were left with some very touching testimonies:

“I am happy that I have been able to become a part of Oak Heights in a way that I have never been able to in other schools……Without a doubt I can say I will miss everything about my time at Oak Heights”
