Term 3 comes to an end

Its now drawing to the end of Term 3 which only means one thing….Summer break !

I must say its been a crazy Term 3, and especially a tough month for the year 11’s who have now completed their final GCSE examinations and have left Oak Heights to move on to college or Sixth form. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors. The GCSE results will be released on the 21st August 2014, so good luck to them all.

The current year 10’s have a lot to look forward to from September 2014, Mrs Sandhu, our Humanities Teacher, held a CV Workshop this term with the students to prepare them for their work experience placements and college/sixth form applications. In these lessons they covered case studies on various scenarios, how to create CV’s from criteria given and understand how important CV’s are. With this knowledge and information the students created their own CV’s, which were very interesting and successful. Work experience for the year 11 students will be taking place on 22nd – 26th September 2014. Students have discussed what they would like to do our work experience officer – Patricia King and she is working hard to get the exact type of experience for the students. It is an exciting time for the students as they get a feel for what the working life is like. Good luck to you all and enjoy your placements.

There have been many educational and fun trips this academic year, we had the blue house prize trip to The Science Museum to see the Hidden Universe 3D at the IMAX, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ay the Lyceum theatre, a visit to China Town to celebrate Chinese New Year and as part of a controlled assessment Hampton Court Palace.

Last term the House prize went to the Yellow House and a fun day was organised to Laser Quest and Bowling at Feltham Ten Pin. A very successful and fun day out, I must say the teachers really enjoyed themselves too…

The annual PGL trip took place from the 4th – 6th April 2014 to Liddington Bay in Swindon. Loads of activities were arranged such as raft building, hiking and fencing just to name a few. It was a fun filled and action packed weekend for the students and to top it off the weather was great too.
